Exam Costs
Free to FSU students. Non-FSU testers pay a $35 proctoring fee.
The Florida Civic Literacy Exam (FCLE) is a computer-based assessment that is designed to demonstrate students’ knowledge of civic literacy. The FCLE fulfills part of the Florida civic literacy requirement undergraduate students must meet to earn their bachelor's degree.

Length & Format
No time limit, but it takes about 60 minutes to complete with 80 multiple-choice questions. The exam is divided into four sections with 20 questions each.

Delivery Mode
Administered at the FSU Testing Center on a secure testing browser. The FCLE must be taken in person in a proctored testing environment.
Getting Started
1. Review Requirements.
For information about the civic literacy requirement, visit CoreFSU. The FCLE meets the assessment competency of the requirement.
2. Register for Exam.
FSU Students
Register in the Exam Registration System to take the exam at the FSU Testing Center. No proctoring fee is required.
Non-FSU Testers
Contact your institution for instructions on taking the FCLE with an external provider, then email testing@fsu.edu for instructions on scheduling your appointment and paying the $35 proctoring fee. Fee is nonrefundable and nontransferable.
3. Prepare for Exam.

Scoring
Testers are required to score at least 60% (48/80) to pass the FCLE. A pass or fail notification is listed on screen after exam submission. FSU students can request scores at testing@fsu.edu. Non-FSU testers must request scores from their home institution. For students who pass, the civic literacy requirement will be recorded as satisfied in Stellic approximately two weeks after the exam date.
